Lane’s End announces stud fees for Saint Liam, Stephen Got Even
"Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Saint Liam will stand the 2006 season for $50,000 at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End in Versailles, Kentucky. Lane’s End also has adjusted the 2006 stud fee for Stephen Got Even, the sire of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Stevie Wonderboy, to $25,000. Stephen Got Even had initially been listed with a $15,000 fee for 2006 after standing for $12,500 in ’05 .
Saint Liam, a five-year-old son of Saint Ballado out of Quiet Dance, by Quiet American, will be shipped from trainer Rick Dutrow’s Aqueduct barn to Lane’s End in about a week, Farish said.
Saint Liam joins a roster that includes 2003 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Pleasantly Perfect, who stood his first year at Lane’s End in 2005.
"We’re obviously very gratified the owners are putting their trust in us and that we’re being able to get those horses because they are outstanding, Classic horses," Farish said.
Saint Liam has been syndicated, with owners William and Suzanne Warren retaining an interest, Farish said.
Bred by Edward Evans, Saint Liam retires with nine wins in 20 career starts and earnings of $4,456,995. He scored a one-length win in the Classic to cap a season that also featured wins in the Donn Handicap (G1), Stephen Foster Handicap (G1), and Woodward Stakes (G1)."

Roman Ruler retired, to stand at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm
"Grade 1 winner Roman Ruler, who was retired after missing a start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) because of a foot condition, is expected to arrive at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Lexington on Wednesday, where he will stand for $30,000 in 2006. A career earner of $1,220,800, Roman Ruler counts four graded stakes wins among his five career victories. After missing the Triple Crown with a quarter crack, the three-year-old son of Fusaichi Pegasus out of Silvery Swan, by Silver Deputy, earned consecutive victories in the Dwyer Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park on July 4 and the Haskell Invitational Handicap (G1) at Monmouth Park on August 7.
As a juvenile, Roman Ruler won the 2004 Norfolk Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park and the Best Pal Stakes (G2) at Del Mar. He is a half brother to Grade 1-winning sire El Corredor.
"We are excited about the prospects of this talented and royally bred racehorse," John G. Sikura, president of Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm, said. "He brings all the prerequisites of a serious sire to stud with him. He was a brilliant two-year-old, he was precocious, he can carry speed a distance of ground, he is a Grade 1 millionaire, a great looking horse and his half brother, El Corredor, is off to brilliant start at stud."
Bob Baffert trained Roman Ruler for Bill Bianco’s and David Shimmon’s Fog City Stable.
"Roman Ruler was brilliant from the word go. He was just very fast," Baffert said. "I’ve been fortunate to train some very fast two-year-olds and Roman Ruler was definitely the fastest two-year-old I’ve ever trained." "

Afleet Alex could return in Cigar Mile Handicap
"Dual classic winner Afleet Alex could continue his quest for Horse of the Year honors by running in the $350,000 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) at Aqueduct on November 26. Trainer Tim Ritchey said the one-mile Cigar "is the race I’ve been pointing for" with Afleet Alex, the Belmont (G1) and Preakness (G1) Stakes winner who has not started since suffering a condylar fracture of his left front cannon bone while training at Belmont Park in July. The injury prevented the three-year-old son of Northern Afleet from starting in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).
"I want to schedule another set of X-rays within the next five or six days to see how he’s coming along," Ritchey said. "He will stay in New York—I have eight horses at Aqueduct—and keep up the big gallops until I decide to work him.
"I might even look at a prep for him. But right now, we want to run in the Cigar Mile if he is 100% and then take him down to Gulfstream [Park]."
Cash is King stable owns Afleet Alex, a career earner of $2,765,800 who finished third in the Kentucky Derby (G1)."
